Vectra® 3-D Imaging
At St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery, we also go a step beyond the normal planning process with Vectra 3-D imaging software. With Vectra, we use a special camera to capture an image of your breasts. The Vectra software creates a 3-dimensional rendering of your body, allowing us to manipulate the image and experiment with different breast augmentation options. Not only does this allow you to “test drive” potential implants in an innovative way, it also gives me the advantage of visualizing exactly the outcome you want, ensuring we’re on the same page. When I’m able to accurately see what you want, I can better plan a surgery that’s going to give you an outcome that exceeds your expectations.
New Techniques
Many of the techniques we use today also make it easier to use smaller implants or place them in a way that creates natural-looking results. For example, at St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery, my colleagues and I have pioneered the “rapid recovery” technique, allowing patients to go back to work within a week. Previously, when breast augmentation was more invasive, patients might not have chosen to undergo surgery in exchange for only a slight size increase. But now that breast augmentation is easier and less traumatic on the body, women everywhere feel more comfortable asking for exactly what they want, even if it’s a slight boost of only 1 or 2 cup sizes.
The Fat Transfer Option
Finally, consider that implants aren’t the only option for augmenting the breasts. For patients who want a truly subtle boost, we offer fat transfer to the breasts. This technique uses your own unwanted fat, often taken from an area like your abdomen or thighs, to add soft volume and fullness to the breasts. This procedure can be completed in a single office visit, and doesn’t typically require a recuperation of more than a few days. The result are breasts that feel incredibly natural and look shapelier, rounder, and fuller—but not obviously so. For many women, this technique is exactly what they need to feel confident, feminine, and sexy.
