What is IPL Recovery like?

Immediately after:

Immediately after an IPL treatment, you can expect some redness and the feeling of a slight sunburn on your skin

One week:

The targeted brown spots will lift to the surface and begin to scab over. It is important not to pick these spots and to allow them to fall off over the 7-10 day period.

Two weeks:

At two weeks, you will see your tightest and brightest skin. You will be loving your results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does IPL treat?

IPL helps to treat wrinkles, dark spots, age spots, freckles, birthmarks, veins, and rosacea. It also treats sun-induced freckles, benign brown pigment, red spots and large blood vessels.

What should I avoid?

After treatment, you should avoid retinols for two weeks, and artificial and natural sun exposure for a minimum of four weeks (including spray tans).

How many treatments should I receive?

Results are best with a series of treatments. We recommend 3-5 treatments to see the best results.

How long does a treatment take?

The treatment duration depends on the specific targeted treatment area. If the area is small it could only take 15-20 minutes. For a full face, it could take up to an hour.

How many treatments will I need?

For maximum results we recommend at least 2-3 treatments.

Does it hurt?

During your IPL treatment, you will feel a slight snapping sensation with each pulse. We apply a cooling roller and a calming cream after. Post-treatment, your skin will feel sunburned.

What is the downtime?

The targeted brown spots will get darker (a good sign) then they will lift to the surface and shed in about 7-10 days. You will look like you’ve been in the sun too much, but it is easy to cover up with makeup. You may resume to normal activities, just avoid sun exposure.

How should I prepare?

No sun tan, self-tanners or bronzers. This treatment is not as effective if you have a tan- in fact, you may even burn. You should stop all photosensitive medications and retinol two weeks prior to treatment.
