FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IPL helps to treat wrinkles, dark spots, age spots, freckles, birthmarks, veins, and rosacea. It also treats sun-induced freckles, benign brown pigment, red spots and large blood vessels.
After treatment, you should avoid retinols for two weeks, and artificial and natural sun exposure for a minimum of four weeks (including spray tans).
Results are best with a series of treatments. We recommend 3-5 treatments to see the best results.
The treatment duration depends on the specific targeted treatment area. If the area is small it could only take 15-20 minutes. For a full face, it could take up to an hour.
For maximum results we recommend at least 2-3 treatments.
During your IPL treatment, you will feel a slight snapping sensation with each pulse. We apply a cooling roller and a calming cream after. Post-treatment, your skin will feel sunburned.
The targeted brown spots will get darker (a good sign) then they will lift to the surface and shed in about 7-10 days. You will look like you’ve been in the sun too much, but it is easy to cover up with makeup. You may resume to normal activities, just avoid sun exposure.
No sun tan, self-tanners or bronzers. This treatment is not as effective if you have a tan- in fact, you may even burn. You should stop all photosensitive medications and retinol two weeks prior to treatment.
When you schedule a skin rejuvenation treatment consultation with one of our two medical aestheticians, Maryann or Monique, your goals will be discussed and a skin examination will be performed to decide which treatment path is best for you. The treatment starts with a cleansing of the face, and then the first chemical peel layer is applied. The amount of layers and time spent on the skin is determined by your medical aesthetician.
