The Next Day Lift is a mini facelift that addresses only the lower portion of the face. It is performed in our office under local anesthesia. This gives patients a more subtle look.
The full facelift addresses everything on the face that is below the eyelids down to the neck. The incision is in front of temporal hairline, hides in contour of ear and goes up behind ear and along hairline.
The deep plane facelift technique releases the retaining ligaments of the face to allow full mobilization of the deep muscle. Rather than pulling the skin to tighten the appearance, the muscle is corrected which gives a natural and not tight appearance.
NEXT DAY LIFT RECOVERY
In most cases there will be use of a drain on either side of the neck-- this is about the size of an IV tube and pulls out extra fluid to allow the tissues to heal together after surgery. A large dressing will also be supplied to protect the surgical area. Both the drain and the dressing are removed the morning after surgery and the dressing is replaced with a lower profile jaw strap, which is to be worn all day for at least a week, up to two weeks-- this helps control swelling and speed healing. Swelling and bruising after surgery is moderate and increased for the first 3-4 days, then it decreases. Pain is not usually a complaint from most patients and is well controlled with multi-modal oral medications.
For the first week, patients will generally not want to go out much. The sutures are removed around day 7, and swelling and bruising are resolving.
At one month, patients look and feel pretty great with some residual swelling. patients are usually photo-ready by week 8.
